Traditional Hand Split
Environmentally Friendly
Cedar Products & Services
.
Mark and Gail Moilliet have been supplying rustic split cedar fencing to Vancouver Island, British Columbia and North America since 1997. With a background in logging and farming in the Parksville area, Mark has split cedar rails and posts since a boy, using traditional tools and methods of hand splitting taught to him by his father and godfather. By utilizing these techniques allows for the creation of high quality products that our clients will enjoy for many generations to come.
The Western Red Cedar used in our fencing is 100% salvage from logging slash. The logs that we use have been dead and usually down on the ground for 50 -100 years. There is no sap wood left- just the heartwood. So the rails split from these logs will be long lasting with low to no maintenance.
Our customer base varies, ranging from garden accents of a few panels for background in a suburban garden, to farm fencing to contain horses cows and sheep. Also the local parks have informed us of positive results from containing environmentally sensitive areas with our rails, while continually receiving positive feedback from the many visitors to our area.
We encourage you to have a look through our Products and Services to get an idea of the wide selection of high quality hand split cedar solutions we offer.
